Lord Hanuman (जय हनुमान)

Lord Hanuman is one of the most worshipped deity in the Hindu religion. He is a great devotee of Lord Rama. Lord Hanuman is the god of courage, strength, knowledge, intelligence, celibacy and devotion. He is the destroyer of evil and protector of the devotees. He has played an important role in the epic Ramayana. Lord Hanuman is the son of a monkey king and queen Kesari and Anjani respectively. He is also considered as the son of the God of winds “Vayu”. He looks like an ape-man. He is the incarnation of Lord Shiva.
According to the Hindu mythology Lord Hanuman is immortal. He is still alive. Anjanisut, Pavanputra, Kesarinandan, Rudravatar and Rambhakt are the other names of Lord Hanuman. Lord Hanuman is the disciple of the Sun “Surya”. His weapon is mace.
The birth story of lord Hanuman:
According to the Hindu mythology, a female spirit of the clouds and water named Punjikasthala disturbed a monkey priest by throwing stones on him. So the priest cursed her to turn into a female monkey. This curse will be finished only by if she give birth to an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Punjikasthala turned into Anjani and performed meditation to please Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva granted her the boon to be her child.
When the king of Ayodhaya, Dashratha got the bowl of dessert from the god of fire Agni to get children. Then an eagle snatched some dessert and dropped it where Anjani was meditating. The wind god Pawan delivered it into her hands. By taking it Anjani gave birth to Hanuman as the incarnation of lord Shiva.
Ramayana, Hanuman chalisa, Bajrangbaan and Hanumanbahuk are the texts of lord Hanuman. Lord Hanuman’s texts are very powerful. In hindu religion it is believed that in trouble time chanting Hanuman chalisa is very useful. It is a religious text of fourty lines. Each line is very powerful. It is composed by Tulsidas.
Hanuman jayanti is the festival of lord Hanuman. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the hindu month Chaitra(April).
Lord Hanuman is the great helper and devotee of lord Rama. He helped lord Rama to defeat demon king Ravana. He helped lord Rama to find his wife Sita who was kidnapped by Ravana. He saved lord Rama’s younger brother Lakshmana’s life. There are many stories which show Lord Hanuman’s courage, strength, intelligence, devotion and dedication.
