Lord Shri Krishna (श्री कृष्ण भगवान)

Lord Krishna ( श्री कृष्ण भगवान) is a great deity in the Hindu religion. He is the most popular incarnation of Lord Vishnu and supposed to be a complete incarnation called ‘Purnavatar’ (पूर्णावतार).
He was born in Mathura (Uttar Pradesh, India). His mother was Devaki (देवकी) and his father was Vasudev (वासुदेव). He was born in the prison of his maternal uncle Kansa. But his foster mother and father were Yashoda (यशोदा) and Nanda (नन्द) respectively. His siblings were Balarama (बलराम) and Subhadra (सुभद्रा).
Shyam, Murari, Gopal, Vrindavanbihari, Dwarkadhish are the other names of Lord Krishna.
Lord Krishna is always represented by playing the flute. Lord Krishna is believed to have existed in the Dwaparyug i.e around five thousand years ago. The birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated as Janmashtmi i.e. on the eight-day of Krishnapaksh of Bhadprad month of the Hindu calendar. Gokul, Mathura, Vrindavan are the places where Lord Krishna spend the majority of his time, these places are situated in Uttar Pradesh (India). The signs of lord Krishna are still present in these places.
The birth story of Shri Krishna:
There was a demon king named Kansa in Mathura. Devaki was his sister. She was married to Vasudev. According to a warning from the sky (akashvani), Devaki’s eighth child would kill Kansa. So Kansa sent Devaki and Vasudev to prison and killed their children one by one but during the birth of Lord Krishna came, A miracle happened and all the prison doors opened spontaneously, The Vasudeva (Lord Krishna Father) managed to carry his newly born son from the prison to his foster parent’s home. While doing so he crossed the river Yamuna.
Kansa sent several demons to kill ShriLord Krishna in Gokul. He sent Putana to kill Shri Krishna. But all the attempts of Kansa to kill Shri Krishna were unsuccessful.
Childhood stories of Lord Krishna:
Lord Krishna spent his childhood under the supervision of his foster parents i.e. Yashoda and Nanda. He did too much fun called Krishna-Leela. He often stole butter and milk from the houses, so he became famous as Makhan-chor (माखन चोर).
One day the Shri Krishan ate mud. So his mother Yashoda asked him to open his mouth and show. When he opened his mouth Yashoda saw the whole universe, stars, planets, mountains, rivers in his mouth. It was the effect of the power of the Lord.
One day the lord was playing with his friends on the bank of river Yamuna. The ball fell into the river. The river was captured by a ten-headed snake Kaliya (कालिया). Lord Krishna jumped into the river and fought with the snake and defeated him. Lord Krishna danced on the head of Kaliya.
One day the people of Gokul were preparing for the worship of Lord Indra (the god of rain and water). Lord Krishna told them to worship Govardhan mountain. Indra got angry and started heavy rain. Lord Krishna saved all the people, Cows, and animals by lifting Govardhan mountain. After this, he became famous as Govardhannath.
Lord Krishna is a great lover also. He is famous for his Rasleela. It was a whole night dance and romance. He did ras with Radha his lover and Gopis on the night of Sharad Purnima.
As time passed, lord Krishna became young. Kansa sent Akrur to bring him to Mathura to kill him. Lord Krishna and Balarama went to Mathura. Kansa offered him to fight with the wrestlers. Lord Krishna defeated all of them and also killed Kansa and freed his biological parents.
Lord Krishna received his education in a Gurukul. He became the great king of Dwarika. He had sixteen thousand one hundred eight wives. Rukmani, Jamvati, Satyabhama, Mitravinda, Kalindi, Bhadra, Nagnajiti, and Lakshmana are the main wives called ‘Patranis’. A demon named Bhaumasur kidnapped sixteen thousand princesses. They all prayed to Lord Krishna to save them. Lord Krishna killed that demon and freed all of them. They told to the lord that now no one will accept them. So lord Krishna accepted all of them as his wives.
Lord Krishna is a great friend also. After becoming a great king, he never forgot his poor friend Sudama. He helped Sudama to remove his poverty.
Lord Krishna is the main character of the epic Mahabharat. He guided Pandavas to win the war against the Kauravas. He became charioteer (sarthi/सारथी) of Arjun’s chariot. He gave the message of Bhagavad Gita to the world during the war of Mahabharata.
