Mahabharat is a great epic of the Hindu religion. It is an ancient Sanskrit literature and a very important religious text of the Hindu religion. The Mahabharata was composed by the sage Ved Vyas. It consists of 100000 shlokas.

It is the story of a war fought in the Kurukshetra. The main characters of the Epic Mahabharata are Lord Shri Krishna, the Pandavas, the Kauravas, and the Bhishma Pitamah, etc.

The Mahabharata was held in the Dwapar Yug. Lord Shri Krishna appeared in the Dwapar Yug. It is a story of war, struggle, and revenge.

The story revolves around the Hastinapur Kingdom. Dhritrashtra and Pandu were two brothers and princes of the Hastinapur kingdom. Dhritrashtra was elder, but due to blindness, Pandu became the King of Hastinapur. However, after the death of Pandu, Dhritrashtra was given the charge of the crown since the elder son of Pandu i.e. Yudhishtir was very young.

Pandu was married to Kunti and Yudhishtir, Bheem, Arjun, Nakul, and Sahdev were five sons of Pandu. They studied in the Gurukul of Dronacharya and learned archery with Kauravas, the hundred sons of the Dhritrashtra and Gandhari.

As per the rule of those days, Yudhishtir, the elder son of Pandu had to become king of the Hastinapur but Kauravas opposed this. They wanted Duryodhan, the elder son of Dhritrashtra to become king.

The Kauravas were very jealous of Pandavas so they planned to kill Pandavas several times. They gave poison to Bheem, they tried to burn Pandavas in the inflammable house. But all the attempts were failed. Pandavas left Hastinapur and went to the forests. They started living like poor Brahman. During this, Arjun Married to Draupadi, the daughter of Drupad in a competition of archery. Without seeing Draupadi Kunti, the mother of Pandavas ordered Pandavas to distribute the prize so Draupadi became the wife of all Pandavas. Pandavas returned to the Hastinapur.

The state of Hastinapur was divided into two parts. Pandavas named their part the Indraprastha. Indraprastha state became a very rich state. The progress and wealth of Pandavas made Duryodhan very jealous. He made a plan to insult Pandavas with his uncle Shakuni. They invited Pandavas in Hastinapur and offered to play the dice game to Yudhishthira. The dice were magical and controlled by the Shakuni.

Yudhishtir lost his state and brothers in the fake game. After losing everything, Duryodhan insulted Draupadi very badly. They tried to pull her saree in front of the whole assembly. However, Lord Sri Krishna saved Draupadi. They sent Pandavas to an exile of 12 years and a secret place for one year. After completing the punishment Pandavas demanded their lost state, but Duryodhan denied giving anything without war. Now Pandavas wanted revenge for all injustices. From here, the battle of Mahabharata took place. The battle was fought for 18 days.

Pandavas were helped by Lord Shri Krishna in the war of Mahabharata. He guided Pandavas to win the war. He became the charioteer of Arjun. The most important and precious thing of the Mahabharata is the introduction of Bhagwat Geeta. The message of Bhagavad Gita was given by Lord Shri Krishna.

The Bhagwat Geeta is a conversation between Lord Shri Krishna and Arjun during the war of Mahabharata. Arjun was hesitating to kill his relatives. Therefore, Lord Shri Krishna guided him to choose the right way of selfless duty and spirituality. The Bhagavat Gita explains how to live life in the right way. Gita is a sacred document of 18 chapters and 700 shlokas.
